Dr Tom Van Heumen is a male Specialist Periodontist who speaks Dutch (as well as English).
Dr Thomas van Heumen graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 2008.
During his undergraduate studies, he was commissioned into the Australian Army and, as a junior Dental Officer, was deployed across Australia in support of numerous exercises and humanitarian operations.
After seven years of practising general dentistry in both military and private settings, Thomas pursued his passion for periodontics by undertaking specialist training at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) in 2018.
Thomas has maintained a distinguished military career and now serves as a Lieutenant Colonel, overseeing all dental services across the Australian Defence Force. He is also a specialist clinical consultant at HMAS Kuttabul Base, Potts Point, where he continues to support defence members and veterans. In addition, Thomas has lectured locally and internationally on periodontitis and implantology.
