Dr Rod Townsend is a male General Dentist.
Rod is a University of Queensland graduate whose professional career started with a scholarship in the Australian Navy. He went from there into private practice in Brisbane’s western suburbs where he developed a thriving family practice over a 20 year period. When the children were grown he decided that he should explore an opportunity in the United Kingdom. He and his wife spent 6 years in Oxford and London, working in the dental industry where he became clinical director for a large corporate dental group. There he had vast and varied experience expanding his own dental knowledge and mentoring other dentists.
Family commitments and grandchildren tempted them back to Australia, but, still not ready to slow down, Rod took a post in a busy country practice in the Western Downs. This was a great family opportunity to enjoy a country lifestyle and once more be in a very busy, family based practice. A 5 year contract passed very quickly and now we are fortunate to welcome Rod to Cooroy. In addition to working at Cooroy Dental Surgery, Rod is also a tutor at the University of Queensland Dental School where he supervises the clinical skills of 4th year students.
Rod has a wealth of experience in all areas of dental care but has a special interest and great proficiency in restorative dentistry – implants, crown and bridge and also endodontics or root canal therapy.
