Dr Malcolm J Grenness is a male General Dentist.
Dr Malcolm J. Grenness was raised and educated in Melbourne.
Graduating from the world class Melbourne University, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Malcolm (and his wife Susan – also a graduate of Melbourne University and Audiologist) moved to Hobart, Tasmania.
During the 1990s Dr Grenness studied for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. The primary purpose of this program is to bring a stronger knowledge base to the practice a Dentistry. Many Fellows go on to specialize in the various branches of Dentistry, Dr Grenness has preferred to work across a broad range of areas.
A long and happy career has ensued. Perhaps the key to this career has been the development of interests and activities that are both directly and indirectly connected to Dentistry.
Not willing to rest on the laurels of Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Dr Grenness commenced post-graduate research at the University of Tasmania in the early 1990s. The subject of the research may appear a bit obscure. Namely ear canal movement. This subject has a dental connection through the anatomy of the jaw joint. As it turned out, a strong knowledge of head and neck anatomy has a crucial bearing on understanding the complex phenomena that were observed.
In the 2000s Dr Malcolm J. Grenness continued his pursuit of knowledge. He undertook a Doctor of Philosophy in Spatial Science on a dental problem that had eluded researches for about 20 years. The research and outcomes into the high resolution 3D-modelling of teeth using off-the-shelf retail cameras was world class.
