Dr John A Cosson is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Doctor Cosson has completed his dental degree (University of Melbourne) and medical degree (Flinders University of South Australia). He has also completed a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in general dentistry, and a specialty Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRACDS(OMS)).
Dr Cosson’s surgical training was completed at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, after spending time in Surgical Units in New Zealand and Edinburgh. He deals with all aspects of oral and dentoalveolar surgery, oral pathology and facial trauma.
Dr Cosson currently lectures for the Australasian College of Surgeons teaching trainee general and specialist surgeons in early management of severe trauma (EMST) and care of critically ill surgical patients (CCrISP). He lectures locally and overseas on basic and advanced treatment of facial fractures and reconstruction.
Dr Cosson is registered with Medical and Dental Boards of both Queensland and New South Wales, and provides emergency treatment for patients at the Tweed District Hospital, and is on call for emergency treatment at most Gold Coast Private Hospitals.
Dr Cosson is currently a council member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS). Dr Cosson is an International Lecturer and Teacher. In 2008, he provided lectures in the Philippines, New Zealand and South Africa on advanced management of Facial Trauma and Surgery for placement of Implants in the jaws. He regularly teaches surgeons in care of patients and management of Trauma for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
