Dr Esperance Kahwagi

BDSc (Melb), General Dentist

Dr Esperance Kahwagi is a male General Dentist.

Dr Esperence completed her dental education at The University of Melbourne in 1988. With experience in both private and public dental practice, her passion has been the attainment of excellence in both clinical practice and teaching. During 22 years of service with Dental Health Services Victoria, she has held senior management roles within The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, provided direct patient care, and continues to work as a clinical teacher within the Melbourne Dental School at the University of Melbourne.

Outside of her direct clinical role, she has been involved in the broader dental profession through various roles, working with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and the ADAVB (Australian Dental Association Vic Branch).

For the past 13 years, she has focused her clinical practice on undertaking minor oral surgical procedures, including complex surgical extractions and wisdom teeth extractions.

She attends a variety of continuing professional development activities, which importantly help to ensure that patients receive care in keeping with current teachings. She also recently completed ‘The Certificate in Teaching’ at the University of Melbourne to further enhance her teaching skills as part of her varied clinical teaching roles within the Melbourne Dental School.

Dentistry continues to be her passion, both in terms of interaction with patients and the clinical teaching aspect. Aside from her love for dentistry, she maintains varied interests throughout her working life. These include sewing, spending a lot of time with her dog (affectionately known as the third child), bike riding (with or without the dog in tow), and more recently, embarking on the art of sourdough bread making. This remains a work in progress, but like many things in life, persistence is key.
